VConestoga - Virtual  Worlds & Community Learning Spaces

Conestoga's VConestoga Campus transcends geographical barriers by constructing a virtual space fostering community and belonging for a geographically dispersed student body. Inspired by evidence-based design principles promoting well-being and social interaction, the virtual campus integrates natural elements, adaptable furniture, and intentional color palettes to mimic the positive attributes of physical learning environments. This unique approach addresses the growing need for inclusive and accessible learning spaces, fostering a sense of connection and engagement, especially for remote students. This innovative virtual world prioritizes the affective dimensions of online learning communities to enhance community building in online experiences. By replicating the emotional elements of physical presence within a virtual environment (such as research-backed design principles including bright spaces, colour theory, intentional spaces for collaboration and creativity and including greenery in the space design), the project promotes student well-being and optimizes the learning experience for a diverse student body.
